Installing Calmly Script
Where to download Calmly Script for Windows, macOS and Linux, what each installer does, and where to get the Android app.
Calmly Script runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Every download is the full app, with a free trial of 14 days (see Trial and license). Get it from the download page, which offers the right file for your system first.
Windows
One installer, for 64-bit Windows 10 or later. Run it and follow the steps:
it shows the license agreement, installs Calmly Script for every user of the
computer, and starts the app when it has finished. After that, Calmly Script
is in the Start menu, and .fountain files open in it.
macOS
There are two disk images, one for each kind of Mac. It needs macOS 12 Monterey or later.
- Apple silicon, for a Mac with an Apple M chip.
- Intel, for an older Mac with an Intel processor.
Not sure which yours is? Choose Apple menu › About This Mac: a chip named Apple M… is Apple silicon.
Open the .dmg and drag Calmly Script into the Applications folder.
Linux
Two kinds of package, each for x64 and ARM64 computers:
- .deb, for Debian, Ubuntu and the distributions based on them.
- .rpm, for Fedora and openSUSE.
Install it the way you install any package on your system, for example
sudo apt install ./ followed by the file’s name on Ubuntu, or
sudo dnf install ./ followed by the file’s name on Fedora. Calmly Script
then appears among your office applications.
Updates
Calmly Script checks for a new version when it starts and downloads it by itself. The update is installed when you close the app; while one is waiting, the menu says Update downloaded.
Android
Calmly Script for Android (phones, tablets and Chromebooks, Android 7.0 or later) is sold separately on Google Play; the desktop license does not cover it, and the Android app needs no license key. It is the same editor: what is in this manual is true there too, except where a chapter says otherwise.
